Research & my interests



Good research enhances humanity ......

i have been fascinated by research. The fact good science and research has enhanced the quality of life immensly, has always motivated me to seek a career in research. During my bachelor days, i was motivated by the idea of statistical learning. This led to investigations into neural networks and handwriting recognition as a part of my final year project.


While at the University of Ulm, my interests were more in the area of communication theory. i worked on the application of genetic algorithms for multiuser detection. During the summer of 1998, i, by chance, came to know the area of blind signal processing and independent component analysis. This has led to my working towards applying principles of blind source separation towards communication problems esp., interference cancellation issues in CDMA.  My research interests can be broadly classified as follows

  • Algorithmic 
    • Blind source separation, independent component analysis, adaptive algorithms, statistical signal processing
    • Interference cancellation, sensor networks
  • Technological interests
    • Development of future mobile communication systems
    • Integration of devices, and services for future devices
    • Standardization of future mobile systems (4G)
